Murder arrest

Bhubaneswar: Paradip police on Wednesday arrested shooter Mohammad Babul from Calcutta for his alleged involvement in the murder of general manager of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Private Limited Mahendra Swain. Babul was produced before a court in Calcutta after his arrest from Waris Nagari in Khidirapura and will be brought to Odisha on transit remand. 

Artiste dead

Bhubaneswar: Veteran art director of Odia film industry Budha Maharana passed away on Tuesday evening at the District Headquarters Hospital in Puri. He was 64. The artiste was undergoing treatment at the hospital for more than eight months because of a brain stroke. Maharana was applauded for his replica of the Jagannath temple for the film Jayadeva.

Three held

Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday arrested three persons for allegedly duping 135 persons of around Rs 7.29 lakh by providing them fake appointments. The accused were identified as Prashant Shreechouhan, Dutia Suna and Purushottam Kumbhar. According to the cops, the trio had duped 135 people by publishing fake advertisements for jobs.

Woman killed

Sambalpur: Unidentified goons hacked a woman to death and injured her two sons in a village in Daitari police limits in Keonjhar district on Tuesday night. The injured were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. It is suspected that the deceased was attacked by a sharp weapon.
