Students threaten agitation

The All BTAD Minority Students Union will launch a series of agitation from tomorrow as police have failed to arrest the killer(s) of its leader, who was shot in Kokrajhar district in August.

Bongaigaon, Oct. 12: The All BTAD Minority Students Union will launch a series of agitation from tomorrow as police have failed to arrest the killer(s) of its leader, who was shot in Kokrajhar district in August.

A 12-hour strike will start in the BTAD from 5am.

Unidentified gunmen killed its union president Lafiqul Islam at Titaguri market in Kokrajhar district on August 2.

Following the incident, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowalhad ordered to form a special investigation team (SIT) to probe into this killing.

The SIT, headed by _an efficient IPS_ (Indian Police Service) officer Anurag Tankha, reached Kokrajhar and initiated the probe_ into the case, leaders of the student group said.

It will hold a public rally at Porbotjhora in Kokrajhar district on Sunday, launch a 72-hour economic blockade in BTAD from Monday, organise a rally in Chirang on October 22 and at Fakiragram in Kokrajhar district on October 23, a 12-hour rail blockade in BTAD on October 26 and stage a hunger strike in Chirang from October 30.
