Shillong, Sept. 12: Lalrammuana produced a sublime hat-trick for his club Shillong Lajong to win 5-2 over Langsning in the 22nd match of this season's Shillong Premier League here today.

Lalrammuana, who was the Golden Boot winner last year, scored Lajong's first three goals of the exciting contest to become only the second player this year to score a hat-trick. The run of goals began in just the fifth minute with a Bipin Singh free kick finding Samuel Lalmuanpuia, who passed to Lalrammuana for an easy tap-in.

Langsning, who were unbeaten in their last three matches, then responded in the 33rd minute via Ronnie Nongbri's strike, which was incidentally the 50th goal of the tournament. Parity, however, lasted just 10 minutes after SLFC's Isaac Vanmalsawma crossed the ball in for Bipin to head it over towards Lalrammuana, who knocked the ball into the back of the net.

Chasing again, Langsning, dressed all in red, came out into the second half looking to put more pressure on the opposition defence, but they went two goals down after Lalrammuana found his third goal in the 56th minute.

Nongbri clawed another goal back for Langsning in the 78th minute to make it 2-3, but Lajong went straight back on attack mode by netting twice in the 80th and 82nd minutes through Lalmuanpuia and Vanmalsawma respectively.

This convincing victory puts SLFC back in first position on 14 points, narrowly ahead of Malki SC (13) and Rangdajied United FC (12). All three clubs have played six games each. Defending champions Lajong, however, have by far the best goal difference of the three (+8).

The young team has scored six of their 12 goals so far this season in the last 10 minutes.

Tomorrow will see the bottom two teams - Nangkiew Irat and Nongkrem - face each other.
