Kritanta bags singles crown

Kritanta Sarma of Assam annexed triple crown, winning both the boys' under-16 and 18 singles on Friday and the boys' under-18 doubles title on Thursday in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament that concluded at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex here on Friday.

Guwahati: Kritanta Sarma of Assam annexed triple crown, winning both the boys' under-16 and 18 singles on Friday and the boys' under-18 doubles title on Thursday in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament that concluded at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex here on Friday.

Kristi Boro, also of Assam, annexed double crown, winning both the girls' under-16 and 18 years singles events.

Top seed Kritanta beat another Assam boy, Shahir Farhaz, 6-0, 6-2 for the under-16 crown and Amit Rout of Bengal 6-2, 6-2 to lift the under-18 title.

Kritanta had on Thursday partnered Kanav Goel of Bengal to beat Amit Rout and Pranav Jain of Bengal 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 for the under-18 boys' doubles title.

Top seed Kristi Boro got the better of the same opponent Ishika Chakma of Assam 6-3, 6-4 in the under-16 and 6-2, 6-4 in the under-18 final.

The Assam pair of Jigyashman Hazarika and Shahir Farhaz comfortably prevailed over Samanay Banik (Bengal) and Promit Bordoloi (Assam) 7-6(3), 6-2 for the under-16 boys' doubles crown on Thursday.
