KMSS calls for case against cop
Guwahati: The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) on Friday criticised the Assam government for not initiating any suo motu case against Dhubri deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) Bhakar Oja, who has been suspended for allegedly taking "bribe".
KMSS adviser Akhil Gogoi on Friday distributed an audio clip among the media, claiming that it contains a conversation between Oja and one Ariful. "In the clip, Ariful says he was coming to give an 'amount'. The other person is heard saying 'Rs 30 lakh.'"
"Why has the state government not arrested him or lodged a suo motu case to investigate the matter?" he asked. Akhil, however, hailed the Sarbananda Sonowal government for arresting several government employees for taking bribes but said senior officials should not be spared. He questioned the government on the investigation into financial anomalies in the directorate of information and public relations and the social welfare department.
