Imphal, Oct. 14: The People's War Group of Kangleipak Communist Party claimed responsibility for the explosion at a fair in Imphal West last night, in which 11 persons, including a minor, sustained splinter injuries.

Making the claim, the group said the attack was part of its campaign against gambling dens.

A grenade exploded at an entertainment fair at Tera Lukram Leirak last night where a huge crowd had gathered.

The injured were admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences here.

Stating that the organisers had turned the fair into a gambling den, the group said its campaign against gambling activities would continue.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh strongly condemned the attack, terming it an act of terrorism.

"I strongly condemn the bomb blast at Tera Lukram Leirak. This is a terrorist act," Biren said in a Facebook post today. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery and said he shared the sufferings of the families.
