Kalinagar health centre awarded
Hailakandi: The Kalinagar block public health centre (BPHC) here has bagged the Best Block Programme Management Unit Award for the year 2017-18.
Health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the award during the presentation of Kayakalp Award and the ceremonial distribution of financial assistance in Guwahati on Sunday.
"I was elated and also taken aback when Kalinagar BPHC's name was announced for the Best Block Programme Management Unit Award, as the district lags behind in key health indicators when compared to other districts of the state. We feel honoured to have received the award," Hailakandi health services joint director Avijit Basu said.
Basu said the award will go a long way in boosting the morale of the health functionaries to work conscientiously and assiduously in improving the key parameters in the health sector of the district.
Kalinagar BPHC has been selected as the best block programme management unit among 149 BPHCs in Assam.
The BPHC has been selected for the award for its remarkable achievements in key health parameters for the year 2017-18. Altogether 84 per cent of the pregnant women had registered their phone numbers with the health centre while 34 per cent of high-risk pregnant women had registered their phone numbers on the Mother and Child Tracking Programme (MCTP) portal according to Health Management Information System (HMIS) report. The BPHC registered the highest number of institutional delivery and 92.35 per cent of infants of the age group of 0-1 years were immunised. The BPHC did not account for a single maternal death.
Hailakandi#deputy commissioner Adil Khan extended his congratulation to the staff of Kalinagar BPHC and said, "I am sure the recognition will inspire and motivate the health functionaries to work with renewed zeal and vigour in improving the overall key health indices of the district in the days ahead."
