Jobless youths get 200 vehicles - BTC plans progress

Kokrajhar, Sept. 4: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) distributed Tata Winger vehicles to beneficiaries under Bodoland Vikash Yojana in a function held at the BTC secretariat here today.

Altogether 200 Tata Winger vehicles, 20 in each of the 10 subdivisions under the Bodoland Territorial Areas District (BTAD), were distributed to unemployed youths at 50 per cent subsidy.

Speaking at the function, James Basumatary, BTC executive member and in-charge of transport, said the vehicles would help the unemployed youths of BTAD to earn a livelihood.

“The scheme will provide an opportunity to several unemployed youths to become self-reliant,” he said.

Basumatary also said that besides vehicles, other schemes would be introduced under the scheme in a phased manner for the all-round development of BTAD.

One of the beneficiaries, Md Samser Ali, said the vehicle would help him a lot in earning a livelihood.

BTC executive members, Mono Kumar Brahma, Banamali Boro and Lwmsrao Daimary, BTC principal secretary M.C. Sahu and BTC officials were among those present at the function.
