Guwahati: The Kamrup (metro) district administration on Friday directed the district labour commissioner to write to the health department, requesting to find the age of all child labourers engaged in various establishments across the city.
District development commissioner Barnali Sarma directed this after a meeting with various departments concerned.
In the meeting, Sarma also directed the dairy development and agriculture departments to conduct extensive drives against adulterated milk and carbide-mixed fruits and vegetables sold in the city. The two departments will detect adulterated food items through scientific process, Sarma said.
Sarma directed district the handloom and textile department to form a flying squad to ensure gamosas, made in factories outside the state, are not sold by any trader in the city. The flying squad, comprising officials of the district administration and other departments concerned, will carry out the drive in all markets in the city till the Bihu celebrations take place.
The district administration on Friday directed district forest department to provide adequate numbers of saplings to every department to be planted on their respective campuses to increase green cover. It also said development of Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Khetra in Jalukbari here will have to be completed as soon as possible.
Sarma added that all departments will have to submit their performance report on various schemes within the first week of every month.
