Europe market beckons NRL wax
Guwahati: Wax from Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has finally entered the European market.
The first consignment of 132 metric tonnes of wax has been flagged off to Poland from the company's marketing terminal at Numaligarh on Friday by chief general manager (finance) NRL Indranil Mitra, in the presence of senior officials of the company.
Wax from the refinery has already been exported to 19 countries across the globe.
"Export to Europe assumes special significance since the European market is known to be quality conscious and entry into this prestigious market will further enhance the brand value of NRL wax. This is also testimony to the company's high-quality wax.Within a span of two years, the NRL wax has been able to establish a foothold in more than a dozen countries, including Mexico, Kenya, Nepal, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Thailand, Hong Kong (China), Brazil," an official said.
With this consignment, the total export of NRL wax stands at around 6,000MT. The company is also exploring opportunities of exporting wax in more countries.
"The demand is increasing every day because of the brand value," the official said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had dedicated NRL's wax plant to the nation on February 5, 2016.
The 50,000MT wax plant, commissioned in March 2015 at a cost of Rs 676 crore, is the country's largest wax-producing unit with indigenous technology developed by the Indian Institute of Petroleum-Dehradun, Engineers India Ltd and NRL.
