NDFB statement

Kokrajhar, Dec. 20: The NDFB today accused security forces of killing two of its cadres. In a statement, the outfit said the duo, B. Gwgwm and M. Urailang, were not killed in an encounter on Wednesday.


Dibrugarh: Ulfa militant Jayanta Gogoi of Kutuha Baligaon village surrendered before police on Thursday.

AGP demand

Guwahati: The AGP on Thursday demanded a CBI probe into the alleged corrupt practices of officials and ministers of the Congress government in implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana in Assam.


Guwahati: Jamat-E-Islami Hind and Stude-nts’ Islamic Organisation of India will jointly launch a campaign across Assam to remove misconception and misinterpretation of the Quran.

Body found

Tinsukia: The body of Farida Begum, 18, was found on the bank of the Tirap at Mulang village in Ledo in the district on Thursday. Her body has been sent for postmortem.
