BJP activist murdered in Tripura
Agartala: A booth-level worker of the BJP, Sunil Deb, 45, was found dead with multiple injuries at Kanchanpur in North Tripura district, 190km from here, on Saturday morning.
Superintendent of police (control) in-charge Harkumar Debbarma said the body was recovered from a drain at Srirampur of Kanchanpur sub-division.
The body bore two major cut wounds on the lower shanks besides the ankles, the official said.
No secondary wounds were found on the body. Kanchanpur police station personnel sent the body for a post-mortem, the officiating SP said.
BJP spokesperson Mrinal Kanti Deb condemned the incident later in the afternoon. "This pattern of murder has happened for the first time in Tripura's political history," he said. He said the incident reminded him of a series of killings of RSS karya kartas and BJP activists in Kerala.
