Anouba claim title

Anouba Imagi Mangal got the better of Football Club Zalen by a solitary goal to claim the champion's title in the second stage knockout round of the 10th Manipur State League played at the main stadium, Khuman Lampak.

MANIPUR LEAGUE

Imphal, Nov. 11: Anouba Imagi Mangal got the better of Football Club Zalen by a solitary goal to claim the champion's title in the second stage knockout round of the 10th Manipur State League played at the main stadium, Khuman Lampak.

Both teams failed to excite the fans as the first half went goalless. However, Anouba Imagi Mangal, who had been featuring in the league since the first edition without winning a title, got the reward with L. Dewan Singh's header in 80th minute for the victory.

Anouba Imagi Mangal received Rs 2 lakh along with the winners trophy while FC Zalen received Rs 1 lakh along with the runners-up trophy.

In addition to the champion's title, Anouba walked away with the fair play trophy and Rs 50,000.

The Best Player of the league title was bagged by Seikhohao Tuboi of FC Zalen, along with Rs 20,000. Nigerian Offor Emeka of Neroca FC received Rs 20,000 for being the top scorer with 10 goals. All 12 participating teams were presented with mementos.

Neroca FC received Rs 20,000 for finishing on top of the table with 29 points in the league round.

Youth affairs and sport director W. Bhaktaraj Singh distributed prizes to the teams.

Women's soccer: KRYPSA Naoremthong will take on YWC Malom in the 12th L. Sangita Devi Senior Women Football League to be played at YWC Malom at 2pm tomorrow.
