Guwahati: Altogether 18 teachers from Assam and Nagaland won CENTA Teaching Professionals' Olympiad (TPO) 2017, results of which were declared on Wednesday.
The Olympiad is a unique national competition that rewards, recognises and celebrates teaching professionals, conducted by the Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA).
The third edition of this competition saw the participation of teachers, school principals, academic co-ordinators and trainee teachers from more than 800 towns and cities in India and from Dubai.
Among the 18 winners from the region, five are national top 500 rank holders of whom the regional topper and principal of St Vivekanand English Academy, Guwahati, Mitra Som Saha secured a top 100 rank in all three subject tracks she took the test in.
"As a principal, I feel that this recognition is going to provide me with a powerful tool for assessing the professional competence of the teachers," Som Saha said.
