Family of 6 choose death over debt

Six members of a dry fruits trader's family were found dead in Hazaribagh town on Sunday morning, some 110km from here, with at least two suicide notes clearly stating the four adults of the financially troubled family had committed suicide while the trader had killed his two children before killing himself.

Iron ore mines under Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) produced 5.19 MT of iron ore and dispatched 5.11 MT in the first quarter of the current fiscal 2018-19, an increase of 15.4 per cent and 16.7 per cent, respectively, compared to the corresponding period last year. Less loading time of rakes and their return from steel plants led to this improvement. Among SAIL mines, Kiriburu, Meghahatuburu, Gua and Chiria are in Jharkhand while Bolani, Barsua, Taldih and Kalta are in Odisha

The surfacing of an alleged baby sale racket has shocked us all. More so since people have great respect for Missionaries of Charity as an organisation. It is, however, good to know that a recovered toddler was handed over to her foster parents. I urge the authorities not to forget about the humanitarian aspects of the case while conducting investigations.
