Roadshow for mega Gujarat ceramics expo

A roadshow was held in Ranchi on October 7 in the run-up to Vibrant Ceramics Expo and Summit to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, from November 16 to 19, touted as the world’s largest exhibition of finished ceramic items. Ceramic items of over 400 brands will be displayed by 250 exhibitors. As many as 2,500 delegates from 65 countries are likely to take part. Expo vice-president Narendra Sangath said India was the second-largest tiles market in the world that grew at 12 per cent a year

Power pact

Tata Power on October 10 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) to co-create, develop and impart training and skill development courses to youth and power sector employees. CBIP runs a Centre of Excellence for skill development in the power sector, while Tata Power set up five training hubs in as many locations in the country that include Shahad and Trombay in Mumbai, Maithon in Dhanbad, Mundra in Kutch and Jojobera in Jamshedpur. Speaking on this development, Ashok Sethi, executive director of Tata Power, said in today's constantly changing and challenging business scenario, there was a need to constantly hone and upgrade one’s skill sets, which this pact with CBIP sought to

Special steel

A high-level delegation from among scientists involved in Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) visited Research and Development Centre for Iron and Steel (RDCIS) of SAIL in Ranchi on October 10 to explore possibilities of getting a special kind of steel manufactured for their project. A RDCIS release said visiting scientists made a presentation before RDCIS scientists to explain requirements and specific expectations from the desired steel to ascertain if the type of steel could be produced in steel plants of SAIL under guidance of RDCIS. RDCIS examined the possibilities to arrive at a roadmap to produce the required steel, the media release added

Small finance bank 

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ujjivan Financial Services, on October 4 opened its operations at Sakchi in Jamshedpur with a new branch on Thakurbari Road that was inaugurated by Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto. Ujjivan Small Finance Bank Ltd has been given scheduled bank status by RBI. Ujjivan had started its banking operations with pilot branches in Bangalore. Today, with 87 branches, Ujjivan has established its presence across Jharkhand, Bengal and several other states.
