Ranchi: To pave the way for a 1,250-metre-long Kantatoli flyover from YMCA to Kokar on Old HB Road here, Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Juidco) has invited tenders shift the existing water pipes and cables from the site.

The tender notice appeared in vernacular dailies on Thursday, with Rs 7.22 crore estimated as the cost of the shifting project. Bidders were asked to submit documents through e-tendering with a security amount of Rs 7.22 lakh by June 6.

Bid will be opened on June 7 at the Juidco office on the third floor of Pragati Sadan in Kutchery.

General manager (planning and management) of Juidco Sajal Sengupta confirmed the development saying that the directive to publish the tender notice was given on Wednesday. "For details one can refer to http://jharkhandtenders.gov.in," Sengupta said.

Eviction drive for the construction of the Kantatoli flyover continued for the third day on Thursday, Juidco's M.P. Choudhary, appointed as Kantatoli project manager, told this reporter.

"Eviction work was undertaken on a 100-metre-stretch from YMCA to a petrol pump in the area on Thursday, affecting five to six houses, mostly their boundary walls. A portion of the boundary wall of YMCA was demolished and a structure of Baxla petrol pump was also broken. Affected people were unhappy but there was no major protest," Choudhary said but added they would be compensated as per norms.

Lower Bazar OC Suman Kumar Sinha confirmed the eviction drive, supervised by 50 police personnel, was peaceful. "Proper security arrangements were made. There was no problem to the best of my knowledge," OC Sinha said.
