After Ranchi, it is Jamshedpur’s turn to board a special flight to Deoghar during Shravani Mela.

The state tourism department, which is offering a holy package — air transfer to the temple town and a premium darshan of Baidyanath Dham — to capital residents, has decided to extend the sop to the steel city too. Called Baba Baidyanath Darshanam, the package, supported by Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), comes for Rs 14,999.

Tourism principal secretary Sajal Chakravorty, who was in Jamshedpur on Friday, said the flight service would kick off from August 1 and would be available till August 21. A nine-seater Cessna Caravan aircraft belonging to Pinnacle Aviation Private Limited will take the kanwariyas to Deoghar and back. According to tentative schedule, the flight will take off from Sonari airport around 9am.

Shravani Mela starts from July 22.

“Bookings will commence from July 21. We decided to start the service with an aim to spare the pilgrims the ordeal of standing in never-ending queues. The journey will take 50 minutes,” he added.

Bookings will open at three locations — JMA Stores in Bistupur (8298045559), SCCN News Network, Sakchi (9234460879) and Alchemist Aviation Pvt Limited (9334491555) — from July 21.

“The flight service will particularly be a boon for elderly,” said a devotee, who regularly visits Babadham.
