The management of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences has decided to list its achievements and initiatives every month before the media, starting February.

Dr Tulsi Mahto, director of RIMS said during a news meet on Sunday that the move was to inform people regarding the activities of the healing hub, “Ours is an institute as well as research centre. Unless we tell people about our achievements, they are unlikely to know about it. So we have decided to list down our activities and interact with the press,” he added.

Presenting a brief note on the institute’s achievements over the last three years, Mahto said: “Besides raising the number of undergraduate seats from 90 to 150, opening of the super specialty wing was a great achievement. This apart, completion of the 300-bedded nursing hostel, introduction of mechanised laundry, establishment of virology lab were significant milestones.”

Listing down future-plans for the institute, Dr Mahto said: “RIMS will soon have a new morgue, a paramedic institute, a multistoreyed car-parking, a rural health training centre, a canteen for doctors and employees and a central library.”

Establishment of super specialty department for cardiothoracic, endocrinology, gastroenterology and nephrology were also on the cards, he added.
