Puff penalty for Rampal

The Palamau district administration on Thursday slapped a fine of Rs 200 on actor Arjun Rampal for smoking in a public place while shooting at Daltonganj railway station, around 200km from the state capital.

Ranchi: The Palamau district administration on Thursday slapped a fine of Rs 200 on actor Arjun Rampal for smoking in a public place while shooting at Daltonganj railway station, around 200km from the state capital.

Palamau SDO Nand Kishore Gupta said the action was taken against Rampal on the basis of a complaint lodged by local voluntary outfit Yuva Samman Morcha, which presented photographic evidence.

"A fine of Rs 200 has been slapped on the actor under Section 4 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003. The challan will be handed over to the actor by a magistrate soon," the SDO added.

Rampal has been shooting for Nastik in Palamau since December 17. He plays the role of an honest cop in the film, which also stars child actress Harshali Malhotra of Bajrangi Bhaijaan fame.

More than 90 per cent of the film, directed by Sailesh Verma, is being shot in Jharkhand's various locations including Patratu and Ranchi, besides Daltonganj and Japla-Chattarpur road in Hussainabad block of Palamau.

A few scenes, featuring Rampal, were also shot at Jagannathpur police station in Ranchi from morning till 2pm on Thursday. "Everything was peaceful here," said Dhurwa thana OC Tarekeshwar Ram who holds additional charge of Jagannathpur.
