ISL tickets to be pocket-friendly

Jamshedpur: Tickets for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) matches in the steel ciy are likely to be kept at an affordable range to ensure fans can catch the live action at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Bistupur.

Sources hinted that general tickets would be priced between an affordable Rs 100 and 150.

Tata Steel which is fielding Jamshedpur Football Club (JFC) for the first time in the cash-rich tournament starting on November 17, has held discussions on ticket-related issues among themselves on more than two occasions. As the owners of the venue, Tata Steel will have a major say on ticket prices.

Tata Steel chief of sports excellence Mukul Choudhari said although they have not decided on the price yet but efforts would be made to keep people's interest in mind. He added tickets would be sold at JRD Tata Sports Complex counters and at select stores across the city.

"We are actively involved in setting up the required infrastructure for the city which will host 9 ISL matches. We are also discussing the price of the tickets. A decision will be taken in due course of time," Choudhari added.

JFC, which is presently in Bangkok for pre-season preparations, will play their opening home match against Atletico de Kolkata on December 1. The outfit will launch its ISL campaign versus Northeast United FC in Guwahati on November 18 before crossing swords with Kerala Blasters FC in Kochi on November 24.

Boxing squad

Jharkhand Boxing Association on Sunday announced a 6-member squad for the inaugural Junior National Championship (for girls) to be held at Haryana from November 4 to 10. The team which was picked after selection trials at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday includes Chandu Tiu, Neha Tantubai, Puja Pandey, Kajal Kumari, Ritika Kumari and Nisha Kumari.

Sunita Kumari Pal and Benson Smith have been appointed coach and manager, respectively.
