Ranchi, Nov. 25: Five policemen of Angara police station sustained injury while escorting health minister Bhanu Pratap Sahi to Silli this morning.

The incident took place at Rahegarha More under Angara police station when a collision took place between the police jeep that was escorting Sahi and a dumper.

The injured cops were admitted to Angara primary health centre from where they were referred to RIMS, as Sahi took care of their proper treatment as soon as he realised that the escorting policemen met with the accident. The injured include assistant sub-inspector Ayodhya Prasad, havildar Sanicharwa Oroan, constables Manoj Kumar, Jagannath Munda and Subodh Kerketta.

The condition of Prasad and Oroan is reported to be serious. They have been admitted to neurosurgery ward of the RIMS. The rest have been admitted to orthopaedic ward of the institute.

The officer in-charge of Angara police station, Raj Kapoor, said the mishap would not have been serious in case the jeep had not turned turtle. “This worsened the situation and all the policemen sitting on the jeep sustained injury,” he added.
