National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Adityapur is awaiting change of guard.

Though the premier cradle is yet to receive a formal communication in this regard, Rambabu Kodali — the head of the mechanical department at BITS-Pilani — is likely to take over the reigns from Rajneesh Srivastava, who has been transferred as the director of NIT-Hamirpur.

According to NIT officials, a notification is just a matter of formality because the NIT Council in New Delhi is on the verge of wrapping up the selection process.

Professor S.B.L. Saxena, who is currently acting as the director in-charge of the institute, maintained that he too was aware of Kodali’s name doing the rounds, but said he was waiting for an official letter.

“We are waiting for an official word. The college will reopen on July 23 after its summer break. We expect the new director to take charge by then,” Saxena said. He added that, technically, Srivastava was still in charge of NITs Adityapur and Hamirpur, where he was transferred last year.
