Chess tourney in capital
Jamshedpur: The second Dalmia Cements all Indian Open FIDE (Federation Internationale des Echecs) Rating Chess Tournament will be held at Sarla Birla Public School in Ranchi from March 26 to 31.
About 200 participants from across the country and several others from the state are expected to participate in different age-group categories during the six-day event being organised by All Jharkhand Chess Association for the second time. The first edition was also held in the capital in 2016.
State chess association CEO Pritam Singh said grandmasters Saptarshi Roy Chowdhury (Bengal) and Sriram Jha (New Delhi) are expected at the event. The 10-rounds Swiss system tournament will earn the winner Rs 50,000 cash prize.
