Ranchi: Three persons were injured after a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck near the CoBRA battalion camp on Ranchi-Khunti Road on Wednesday morning.

The accident spot is 20km from the Khunti district headquarters and the capital city.

A local resident said a bus heading towards Ranchi from Sambalpur (Odisha) with 45 passengers on board rammed into a speeding truck headed towards Khunti around 6am.

Khunti OC Rajesh Kumar Rajak said all the injured were passengers. "The drivers and the helper are safe. Three persons have sustained minor injuries. No one turned up to register any case in the matter. We have seized the vehicles and detained the helper of the truck. Both the drivers managed to escape," Rajak said.

On the reason behind the accident, Rajak said another truck, which had developed a technical snag, was encroaching on the road. "The drivers of the bus and the truck were in hurry to bypass the parked truck and collided with each other in the process."

He said traffic movement was not impacted. "Movement of vehicles started immediately after shifting the truck from the spot. It took time to bring the bus to the police station with the help of a crane."
