Asian meet at XLRI
Jamshedpur: This weekend, XLRI will organise a three-day meet on a key business buzzword, sustainability.
The Oikos Asia Meet will be hosted by XLRI student body SIGMA (Social Initiative Group for Managerial Assistance) between February 9 and 11 at XLRI on the theme Empowering Our Roots.
Based in Switzerland, Oikos International is a student-driven organisation for sustainability in economics and management.
In the XLRI meet, which will give a platform to individuals and organisations to cultivate a mindset of sustainability, delegates are likely to come from across India and Bangladesh. Participants include notables, members from different chapters of Oikos and college students from general streams.
Lectures will focus on sharing international best practices, leveraging them to suit context-driven needs and project conceptualisation.
Interactive sessions will make the three-day event an ideal platform for exchange of ideas, problems and solutions among speakers and participants.
Day One will have the inaugural function followed by case studies, a tour of the XLRI campus and presentations from Oikos chapters in India.
The second day will have best out of waste contest for college students, talks by Maharashtra chief of Unicef Gopinath T. Menon, founder of BluEarth Energy Mukhul Ojha and video conferencing with Help Us Green co-founder Ankit Agarwal, group discussions and activities.
The third day will see delegates visiting social outfits and NGOs to inspect how projects undertaken by them run on a sustainable model.
Last year, the annual Asia Meet was hosted by IIM Calcutta.
