3 accidents, youth dead

The capital city on Wednesday witnessed three accidents that damaged two buses, a car and left one dead.

Ranchi: The capital city on Wednesday witnessed three accidents that damaged two buses, a car and left one dead.

One Chotu Kumar Singh (22) alias Suraj was mowed down by a speeding bus near OTC ground under Pandra police station while he was on his way to his coaching class on a bike around 7.30am.

A resident of Bihar Colony in Jhiri, Chotu was a student preparing for competitive exams. "While Chotu was heading towards Piska More, a speeding passenger bus, which had started from Piska More for Palamau, collided head on with Chotu's bike. Local residents rushed him to RIMS, where doctors declared him brought dead. The driver abandoned the bus and fled the spot," a local resident said.

Pandra OC Anand Kumar Singh confirmed the incident but said he was yet to talk to an eye-witness."The bus involved in the incident has been seized and an FIR for reckless driving has been registered," he added.

In another incident, two buses collided head on near a bridge connecting Ranchi with Rukka Dam under BIT outpost of Sadar police station area, around 20km from city.

The accident took place around 9.30am when an AC bus carrying 30 passengers from Hazaribagh and heading towards Ranchi swerved off the road to save a biker and collided with another bus coming from the opposite direction. "Except some damage in the front part of the buses' bodies, no one was injured," a local resident said.

In another accident near Khelgaon around noon, a spe-eding car lost control and rolled down into crop field. Two persons who were seated inside were saved by the airbags.
