Tejashwi to kick off yatra today
Patna: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav will kick off his Samvidhan Bachao Nyay Yatra from Katihar on Saturday. Before departing from Patna on Friday, Tejashwi emphasised that he will spread his father Lalu Prasad's message, a letter written before the RJD chief went to jail.
In the first phase of his yatra, he will cover four districts in the Seemanchal region, including Katihar, Purnea, Kishanganj and Araria. He said he will expose how chief minister Nitish Kumar ditched the people's mandate.
"The condition of law and order in the state is on the verge of collapse. The way incidents of murder, kidnapping, ransom and dacoity have risen, proves criminals have taken over law and order in their hands," Tejashwi said at his mother's 10 Circular Road residence. "The incidents in Nandan village of Buxar district, where the police mercilessly beat up people of the Dalit community, show Nitish government's anti-Dalit face. I am going to highlight all this."
Before setting off, he touched his mother Rabri Devi's feet. Rabri said: "People of Bihar as well as India have a lot of expectations from Tejashwi and I'm sure he will live up to their expectations. It's not just my blessings, the blessings of a crore of people are there with him. He'll foil all conspiracies and establish social justice and secularism in society."
Tejashwi said his mother is always there in his heart and nobody can defeat him until he has his parents' blessings. RJD state unit president Ram Chandra Purbey, national vice-president Shivanand Tiwari and his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav were also there.
Tejashwi's first public meeting will take place in Katihar's Rajendra Stadium followed by Purnea on Febrary 11, Kishanganj on February 12 and Araria on February 13.
He will address two public meetings in Araria because there is a bypoll for the Araria parliamentary seat on March 11, as per an Election Commission of India notification issued on Friday.
Tejashwi further said: "I will expose how Nitish ji failed to bring a special package or accord special category status to Bihar despite a double engine government. Nitishji is more focused on getting special bungalows in New Delhi."
