Ara: Hundreds of students seeking admission into the Intermediate and BA, BSc and BCom Part I courses for the 2018-2021 session missed the last date of admission here on Monday.
The non-teaching employees of 16 of the 17 constituent colleges under Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), who are on an indefinite strike since September 5, prevented the applicants from entering the college campuses.
The harried students can opt for the spot admission that will start to fill up the vacant seats. They need to submit application forms in triplicate from September 13 following the guidelines that the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has issued in this regard.
VKSU nodal officer Jawahar Lal said only those students who could not get admission or not apply or whose names did not figure in any list under the Oracle Financial Service Software (OFSS) are entitled to apply for offline admission.
Those who had applied through OFSS but their names did not appear in any list need not pay Rs 300, while the rest have to give Rs 300 along with the forms.
Lal said the forms were available on the OFSS portal for applicants to take prints from. He added that the number of vacant seats will be uploaded on the portal shortly. He said the BSEB had been apprised of the situation arising out of the non-teaching employees' strike so that the board could announce separate dates for admission.
Lal said students could apply for admission in the colleges from September 13 to September 18 and the administration of the colleges had been directed to manage a separate counter for the students to help in submission of forms. He directed the students to retain a stamped portion of the form after its submission. He said a list of selected students will be published on September 20 and the admission process will be from September 21 to September 25.
He added that after the admission process got over, all information will be uploaded on the OFSS portal.
VKSU registrar S.N. Jha said five of the striking employees' 12 demands had been conceded to and the proposals for the rest had been sent to the government and the chancellor.
He added that around Rs 24.46 crore out of Rs 61.5 crore received from the government for salary difference of non-teaching employees had been paid, while the rest will be sent to their colleges and the amount will be paid after verification of salary dues.
On the other hand, the employees are determined to continue their agitation till the VKSU administration publishes a notification in this regard. Zonal president of the Non-Teaching Employees' Association, Chitranjan Singh, said the VKSU officials were misguiding them and if the varsity administration does not concede to their demands and notify them within two days, the association will approach Patna High Court.#
