Patna: Hotels are the place to be to ring in the new year as they have special menus and programmes up their sleeves for Patna residents.

Hotel Patliputra Exotica will organise a Bollywood-themed party from 7pm on Sunday. Families, kids in tow, can go there to bid farewell to 2017 and welcome 2018.

"We have developed food and programmes around Bollywood to spice up the occasion for our patrons. Special dishes like 'Sholay Angare', 'chicken Malaika Arora', 'mutton Rangoon', besides 'Tom and Jerry' for paneer lovers, and 'Romeo and Juliet' for those who enjoy corn has been kept on the menu," said Anupam Jha, the food and beverage (F&B) manager at Patliputra Exotica.

A kids' zone will keep children busy, and a selfie point will allow revellers capture the new year moment. Focused on a family gathering, entry passes have been priced at Rs 2,999 for couples, Rs 1,999 for singles and Rs 999 for children in the age group of five to 12 years.

The USP though is the platter of 111 dishes and 25 desserts that has been planned for the guests. The management said 60 per cent of the passes have been booked and the hotel that can accommodate 700 people, is now looking at 400 to 500 exclusive guests.

"The highlight of the programme will be singers Deepak Chandra Upadhyaya and Tuba Khan who will come from Mumbai," Jha said.

Maurya will open its new Bodhi Hall for the New Year part with Tapasya band's disc jockey and orchestra services. "We have arranged a multi-cuisine spread for the guests. Roast turkey with cranberry sauce and strawberry mousse will be specialty," said Nishit Kumar Sinha, the F&B manager.

The entry fee has been kept at Rs 4,500 for couples, Rs 2,500 for individuals and Rs 2,000 for children between the ages of five and 12.

Some hotels are also going low-key, organising musical nights for people. Hotel Panache will have a DJ night at the nightclub on the premises, and hotel Chanakya will have private parties.
