Officer held over child abuse
The district police on Sunday arrested the district child protection officer, Ravi Raushan, in connection with the sexual exploitation of minor girls staying at shelter homes (Balika Grih) run by state government-funded non-government organisation Seva Sankalp Vikas Sansthan here.

Muzaffarpur: The district police on Sunday arrested the district child protection officer, Ravi Raushan, in connection with the sexual exploitation of minor girls staying at shelter homes (Balika Grih) run by state government-funded non-government organisation Seva Sankalp Vikas Sansthan here.
Senior superintendent of police Harprit Kaur said Raushan's role was under the cloud, following revelation of sexual harassment of minor girls at the aforesaid shelter home.
Sources said the social security department, in wake of sexual abuse of the minor girls, probed the incident in depth and suspected the child protection officer's role.
The senior superintendent of police said Raushan's name had figured during police investigation for his alleged connivance with tormentors of the girls.
A police team led by the station house officer of Women's police station Jyoti had a detailed interface with the girls, who had been shifted to Patna after sexual harassment.
The police team showed the girls Raushan's photograph during investigation. All the girls in no minute recognised him as one of the tormentors of their modesty and physical abuse.
The senior superintendent of policesaid Raushan, a resident of Khabara village under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station was evading his arrest, suspecting his name had figured in course of investigation. A police team was on his trail and the officers on the basis of electronic survelliance tracked his location and arrested him from the vicinity of his house on Sunday afternoon.
Police have quizzed him thoroughly and got some other clues of others involved in the sexual exploitation of minor girls. "Raushan is undergoing medical check-up in police custody, as several girls have accused Raushan of outraging their modesty," said a police officer.
"Moreover, his involvement too came to notice for catering to bigwigs by sending these girls forcibly from the shelter homes."
