Power supply cut

Patna: Power supply will be affected on Tuesday for one-and-a-half hours in some parts of west Patna from 7am owing to the maintenance of 50MVA power transformer at 132/33 KV Jakkanpur grid sub-station. he areas that will be affected include Beur, Beur More, Makhdoompur, Alinagar, Shivpuri, Bhikhachak, Mahavir Nagar, Brahampur, SK Bihar Colony and Ishopur.


Patna: Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd on Monday organised a daylong induction programme for newly appointed junior accounts assistant (in picture by Ranjeet Kumar Dey). Altogether 339 junior accounts assistants joined the power firm.


Patna: P.N. Roy, a 1982 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre, was on Monday promoted to the director-general rank. He is now posted as additional director-general of police (railways).

Molest arrest

Supaul: An assistant engineer of irrigation department, Shyam Kumar Mandal, and his two sons were arrested on Monday on the charge of molesting a girl. Mandal and his sons, Lokesh Kumar and Varun Kumar, were produced before the chief judicial magistrate, who remanded them in judicial custody in Birpur sub-divisional jail.

Rebel attack

Sasaram: Maoists set on fire the houses of Pappu Bhuyian, Rameshwar Bhuyian and Mahendra Bhuyian at Puri Jagdishpur village in Aurangabad district late on Sunday night. The residents belonging to Mahadalit community were allegedly running illegal liquor units in their houses.

Crime alarm

Patna: The need of intensifying socio-cultural movements to check crime against women was underlined at a programme organised by the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation on Monday.
