Monday date for Gandhi theme park
Patna: Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh would lay the foundation stone of a theme park at Chandrahiya in East Champaran district on February 12.
The park is coming up in memory of Mahatma Gandhi who had visited this place, located around 10km south of Motihari town, before launching the Champaran Satyagraha in 1917.
"The construction work of the theme park would be completed in a year's time. The tender process for selecting the agency for this project has already been completed," tourism minister Pramod Kumar told The Telegraph.
The Centre has provided Rs 11.25 crore to execute the theme park which would come up on state government land.
A spinning wheel measuring 6,000mm in length and 3,000mm in height would be one of the main attractions of the theme park. Exhibition huts in which items related to Gandhi's life and development of a water body and landscaping of the park land are some of the other components of the project.
The park would have a cafeteria, drinking water facility, toilets and parking space. Also, five battery operated vehicles would be put in the service in the park. Solar energy will be used to generate power.
Pramod said he would visit Delhi for talks on Champaran tourism projects with Union tourism minister K.J. Alphons and Union tourism secretary Rashmi Verma.
