Patna: State government-run schools in Bihar are not up to the mark, Upendra Kushwaha, the Union minister of state for human resource development, said on Sunday.

Kushwaha, who leads the RLSP, an NDA ally of chief minister Nitsh Kumar's JDU, asked the state government to improve the education system in Bihar in the next 37 months. He was addressing a rally, titled Siksha Sudhar Sankalp Mahasammelan, at Gandhi Maidan. "The un-aided education policy which was implemented in 1980 (and which has been abandoned) had totally ruined the education system in Bihar" he said.

He also said teachers should not be bothered with things like mid-day meals.
