Cops hunt for German shepherd thieves
Patna: A one-and-a-half-year-old German shepherd dog has been stolen from a house located in Ashok Nagar under the jurisdiction of Bahadurpur police station of the state capital, the police said on Wednesday.
The police said that the dog was stolen from the house of one Rakesh Ranjan.
Three thieves are seen stealing the dog in footage of CCTV installed at the house. "Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the thieves and trace the dog on the basis of the CCTV footage," the station house officer of Bahadurpur police station K.K. Gupta said.
Owner of the stolen dog, Ranjan, claimed the incident was the handiwork of a professional gang as the family members couldn't get an inkling of the incident. "What is noticeable is that the dog didn't bark at the thieves, when they entered the house with ulterior motive," said an investigating officer Rishikesh Upadhyay.
Upadhyay didn't rule out the involvement of a profession gang in the incident. A case has been registered on the statement of the owner, Ranjan. "The police have already launched investigation to trace the stolen dog. We will not leave any stone unturned to recover the pet animal," he said.
This is the second incident of theft of a dog in the city. Earlier, a dog was stolen from the house of a police official falling under the jurisdiction of Sultanganj police in Patna City.
The stolen dog was recovered from Misikarpur under the jurisdiction of Alamganj police station after a few days. A man, who was arrested on the charge of theft of animal, was released after he paid Rs 50,000 as penalty in the court.
