AISF national secretary Sushil Kumar has sent an application to the police to register an FIR against AIIMS-Patna doctors for negligence in his treatment besides seeking security as he claimed to have received life threats from the doctors, including Dr Ravi Singh.

A dispute had arisen on Sunday when CPI leader and former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar had tried to meet Sushil, who underwent a surgery on his right shoulder at the hospital on October 10.

Hospital authorities had alleged that he tried to enter with hundreds of activists and abused staff when they insisted that they could meet the patient one by one. The hospital administration on Monday lodged an FIR against Kanhaiya Kumar, accusing him of misbehaving with junior doctors and abusing hospital staff and security guards on being denied entry in a group. The hospital administration also named Sushil and around 100 unknown persons as accused in the FIR.

In his application to the station house officer of Phulwarisharif police station, Mohammad Qaisar Alam, on Tuesday, Sushil alleged that on October 15, a dozen AIIMS-Patna doctors led by Dr Ravi approached him saying they would destroy him while he was having food in his ward (number C3 A and bed number-1).

Sushil’s application also says that Dr Ravi threatened to stop his treatment and he added that he had not received dressing for his surgery till Tuesday, though it was expected on Monday. He further said that AIIMS-Patna doctors have misbehaved with his attendants from day one of his hospitalisation and also misbehaved with Kanhaiya.

Phulwarisharif station house officer Mohammad Qaisar Alam, however, said that he had not received any application from Sushil regarding lodging of an FIR till Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, around 10 AISF and an AISA leader were arrested by police from outside AIIMS-Patna gates where they were staging a protest against alleged fake FIR being lodged by the hospital administration against Kanhaiya and Sushil on Monday.

Asked about what follow-up action had been taken in the AIIMS-Patna case, the Phulwarisharif SHO said action would be taken by police after thorough investigation.
