Calcutta: Utpal Chatterjee is all set to be the Bengal coach.

The coaching committee of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which is scheduled to meet on Thursday, will make Utpal’s appointment official.

Mohinder Amarnath has already been appointed as consultant of the side.

It was learnt that Palash Nandy or Goutam Shome (jr) might be asked to assist Utpal.

“Most of the players want two coaches as it helps in their preparation… The matter will come up for discussion at the meeting,” said a member of the committee.

Udaybhanu Banerjee, T.J. Banerjee and Ajay Verma are tipped to take charge of the age-group teams.

Kolkata Knight Riders’s coach John Buchanan, who arrived in the city on Wednesday, could have a “mental conditioning and motivation” session with the Bengal players during his stay.

Meanwhile, the CAB is yet to receive any circular from the BCCI on having a foreign player in the side.

“A copy of the technical committee’s decision came today (Wednesday), but we need the circular first,” said a senior official.

CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya, who is back after meeting the defence authorities in New Delhi, said the talks were positive.

“The talks were positive and we should get some news in a month’s time,” he said.
