Chennai, April 6 :     Carlos Moya got the first taste of Oriental charm via a ride atop an elephant this afternoon. The Spaniard, focus of all eyes at this year?s Gold Flake Open here, flew in from Barcelona early this morning and was out on the courts at the Nungambakkam Stadium by 4 pm. After a sweaty one-hour session, he ventured on a unique joy ride round the stadium. A trifle scared while climbing onto the back of the huge animal, Moya seemed to enjoy his 10-minute trip. The elephant, draped in the red-and-golden clolours of the title sponsors and impressively ornamented, provided the early fun on an action-packed evening. The 22-year-old Spaniard, seeking to dethrone Pete Sampras from the pinnacle for the second time in four weeks, takes on Belarussian Vladimir Voltchkov in the second match on Centre Court tomorrow. Second seed Karol Kucera will begin proceedings on the show court, while No. 3 Thomas Johansson will be third on court.
