New Delhi : All India Football Federation (AIFF) will shift its developmental side, Indian Arrows, to Calcutta this season, according to sources.

Arrows, who were earlier based in Gurgaon and finished ninth in the recently concluded I-League, will now be sponsored by Pailan Group for the next three years. Three teams from Calcutta — East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and United Sports Club — are already playing in the I-League.

“The sponsors have agreed to take care of the team’s boarding and lodging and would also pay the AIFF annual sponsorship money with an increase of 10 per cent every season,” sources said adding a final agreement would be signed in the next few days.

The federation, however, would remain in charge of the technical aspects of the team, including selection of players, coaches and other technical staff members.

Formed last season mainly to develop a team for the 2018 World Cup campaign, AIFF were forced to look for sponsors because of escalating costs in running the side. Ten footballers of the Indian Arrows team are currently members of the national under-23 team.
