Pune: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) need a big win to make it to the play-offs and their head coach Brad Hodge admitted that the team's middle-order hasn't fired as expected and the side relied on only a couple of bowlers.
He also rued the missed chances. "I think realistically, our middle-order hasn't fired as much we would have expected and we are too reliant on a couple of bowlers who have kept us in the game," Hodge said on Saturday.
"We haven't been consistent right through. When our match-winners haven't fired, nobody has been able to pick up the pieces.
"So, for us, I don't think it's going wrong, we have won six games like most other teams. If we would have made use of the lost chances and managed to get over the line in couple of other close ones, then we would have been where we wanted to be. But unfortunately, it didn't happen," he added.
He also said that KXIP would be waiting for the results of other games. "It's difficult. What we will be doing is watching and waiting for the next 24 hours to see the results of other games. We have unfortunately left ourselves in this position."
"At the halfway mark we were in a strong position, but we suffered defeats and now we are in a position where we have to watch other teams. However, we will go about our business in same fashion and hope to make an impact," the head coach added.
Hodge expressed hope that Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman will be available for selection on Sunday.
