Shillong, Sept. 16: Shillong Lajong FC, the only I-League outfit from the seven northeastern states, got a shot in the arm ahead of the I-League campaign, signing up Nigerian professional Ebi Sukore from Mumbai FC.
The process to engage the 29-year-old midfielder started a few months ago but its finalisation was delayed by immigration formalities, sources in the club administration said.
Sukore has played for Indonesian clubs like Persik Kediri, Semen Padang, PSIS Semaraang and Persis Solo before joining Mumbai FC.
After the signing of Sukore, Shillong Lajong head coach Desmond Bulpin said: “I am very happy to have signed on Ebi Sukore who is an attacking midfield player and scores goals. He has a good scoring record in midfield and a reputation of being a good player.”
Shillong Lajong general secretary Larsing Ming Sawyan had told The Telegraph that the club was in contact with few more overseas players .
