Itanagar, April 17: Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Dorjee Khandu today accused his predecessor Gegong Apang of being “jealous” of the achievements of the present Congress government led by him.
Last night, Apang alleged that Khandu was trying to cover up his government’s “failures” and “corruption”.
Reacting to that, Khandu claimed Apang was jealous of his government’s achievements since it was much ahead of Apang’s in terms of achievement.
“After Khandu took over as chief minister in April last year, the state has sunk to the lowest depth of financial mismanagement and corruption. Earlier also, he would run the department like his personal fiefdom. But now he has turned the entire state into his family business, a fact that is known to all,” Apang said in a press note last night.
Countering these charges, Khandu said: “If one compares the state’s financial status for 2005-06 and 2006-07 that opened with a negative balance of Rs 303.54 crore and Rs 56.92 crore to the current financial year that opened with Rs 18.28 crore, it becomes evident that the comment of the former chief minister is ludicrous.”
Khandu also asked Apang to stay away from his “divisive” intentions.
