Jamshedpur, July 25: Jharkhand beat Orissa 6-0 in the last match of the East Zone qualifying round of the 26th National Sub-junior (under-16) Football Championship for the Mir Iqbal Hussain trophy.

The win pits Jharkhand in the finals against neighbours West Bengal.

In the one-sided encounter at the Keenan Stadium, Jharkhand players were in a goal-scoring spree against their comparatively weak opponents.

Tata Football Academy’s Lalam Puia opened the account in the ninth minute and later blasted another one in the 23rd minute to frustrate Orissa. Puia scored the first goal after getting a cross from the left flank.

The second goal was also scored in the same way. Jharkhand led 2-0 at the breather.

With Orissa not showing any signs of recovery from the initial jolt, the home side began finding opportunities for more goals. Jola managed the third goal in the 48th minute of the second-half.

The hosts found the going easier as Orissa appeared to have lost interest in the proceedings. They left several openings in their defence and mid-field.

S Satish Kumar scored the fourth goal from just outside the box. After moving with the ball from the centre, the mid-fielder dribbled past two defenders before shooting a left-footer past the baffled Orissa goalkeeper.

Orissa had no idea of how to control the situation.

The team played without any plan and were found wanting in their performance. Most of the time, the ball was centred in the Orissa half.

Manik Biswas scored the final two goals in the 65th minute and later in extra time.

The centre-forward, who was looking to score goals in the initial stages of the match, did not waste the opportunity he got.

He blasted in his first goal after receiving a cross from the left-flank. He managed the final goal after taking full advantage of a goalmouth melee.
