Bhopal, Oct. 12: The RSS today paid tributes to 50 persons, including journalist Gauri Lankesh who was murdered in Bangalore last month, at the start of its three-day conclave here.

Sangh functionaries said the tributes were paid in the presence of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Several persons belonging to science, music, culture, literature and media who died recently were remembered for their contribution, RSS sources said.

RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale distanced the organisation from Yashwant Sinha's criticism of the government over multiple issues, including its handling of the economy and its defence of BJP chief Amit Shah's son Jay. "They are in the BJP and they should discuss the issues within the party. We will not discuss it as it is not our obligation," Hosabale said in response to a question.

Nearly 300 delegates are taking part in the RSS national executive meeting in Bhopal.
