New Delhi, May 5 (PTI): The Delhi Commission for Women was riven by infighting on Tuesday over the issue of summons to Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas on a complaint by a party volunteer.

DCW member Juhi Khan criticised chairperson Barkha Singh for issuing the summons, claiming that it was an attempt to defame the AAP leader and his party. Singh is a former Congress legislator.

Khan threatened to resign from the Commission, which has six members including the chairperson.

Singh defended the move to issue summons against Vishwas and his wife.

The unnamed AAP volunteer has said that her reputation was being ruined by rumours about an extramarital affair with Vishwas, and that Vishwas should make a public statement to clear her name.

The DCW chairperson said that as Vishwas and his wife had not responded to the summons it had issued on Monday, fresh notices would be issued to him to depose before it by Wednesday.

Vishwas and his wife had been asked to appear before the DCW by 3pm today.

Vishwas did not come to DCW office. Earlier, Vishwas said he has not received any notice from the DCW.

”We are issuing fresh summons to Vishwas,” said Singh.
