Lucknow: Rajnath Singh claimed on Sunday that China had realised "India's might" and decided "not to meddle with" New Delhi.

"China has understood well that India is no longer weak," the Union home minister told an event here. "The dispute relating to China has been sorted out effectively."

India and China were recently involved in a 72-day standoff in Doklam, a Himalayan plateau at their tri-junction with Bhutan.

India's borders were secure "under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi", Rajnath said. "India has emerged as a powerful nation under Modiji's leadership. Our country is now respected internationally."

He accused Pakistan of "trying to break up India by sending terrorists" and added: "But our security forces gun down five to 10 terrorists every day."

He was silent on reports of increased infiltration.
