MP 'dead' on Wiki

New Delhi, March 9 (PTI): A BJP member today alleged in the Lok Sabha that Wikipedia had shown her as dead, prompting the government to promise action.

Anju Bala raised the issue in the zero hour and said she had come to know of her "death" entry in the social media when her secretary received a phone call after she participated in a women's conference last week. The caller sought to know whether the conference was held long back as she was shown as "dead" on March 3 on Wikipedia.

Gift for PM

Kanpur (PTI): A carpenter from Kanpur got an opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and gifted him a Bhagavad Gita carved on wood. Sandeep Soni, 32, took three years to create the wooden Gita.

Sooraj plea

Mumbai (PTI): The CBI on Wednesday opposed actor's Sooraj Pancholi's petition to be handed back his passport. Sooraj is accused of abetting the suicide of his actress-girlfriend Jiah Khan. The CBI counsel opposed the plea saying Jiah's mother had filed a petition seeking the applicant to be charged with murder. She had also sought an FBI probe in the case.

AIIMS cave-in

New Delhi (PTI): Two labourers died when earth caved in at a construction site on the AIIMS premises on Wednesday. Five labourers were trapped in the incident. Three persons were injured.


New Delhi (PTI): Over 100 antiquities have been stolen from centrally protected monuments since 2000, culture minister Mahesh Sharma told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. The CBI has registered only one case in this connection in the past six years, he said.

Railway loss

New Delhi (PTI): The railways has suffered a loss of Rs 55.92 crore because of damage to property and cancellation of trains during the recent Jat agitation, railway minister Suresh Prabhu said on Wednesday. A total of 2,134 trains were cancelled and 259 were diverted between February 12 and 24, he said.
