Bengal poll report 'sketchy'
New Delhi: The Union home ministry has expressed unhappiness with the "sketchy" report submitted by the Bengal government on rural poll-related violence and asked the state to send a detailed report.
"The report sent by the Bengal government is sketchy and far from satisfactory. It only has figures of casualties and the number of violent incidents," a ministry official said on Wednesday.
On Monday the ministry had written to the state government seeking details of the circumstances leading to the violence and steps taken by the administration to maintain law and order and restore peace.
"We have again asked the Bengal government to provide details of each violent incident and the action taken by it to restore peace and the steps taken against the perpetrators," the official said.
On Tuesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi had slammed the Trinamul Congress and called the Bengal panchayat poll violence a "murder of democracy".
