Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan thinks Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a "gift of God" to India.

" Modiji Bharat ke liye bhagwan ka vardan ban kar aaye hain," Chouhan told ABP News in the run-up to the fourth anniversary of the Modi government.

The chief minister called Modi's years as Prime Minister "miraculous", saying he overcame all odds to turn Swachh Bharat into a people's movement and enhance the country's stature abroad.

Chouhan said Modi's real success was making development the prime agenda.

Chouhan's latest encomium comes at a time the Modi government and the BJP have planned a series of events to mark the fourth anniversary on May 26, seeking to overshadow the Karnataka jolt and reach out to the electorate before they face the Lok Sabha polls next year.

The Congress has decided to observe the fourth anniversary as "a day of betrayal".
