WICB letsGayle off
Calcutta: The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has discontinued pursuing a disciplinary charge brought against Chris Gayle, it said in a statement.
Back on January 11, Gayle's comments during a post-match interview were critical of the selection policy of the WICB when the latter dumped Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo from this year's World Cup squad.
Gayle had been charged for having conducted himself in a manner contrary to Rule IX of the WICB's code of conduct. According to Rule IX, players and team officials shall not make public or media comment which is detrimental to the interests of the game.
The WICB's code of conduct also states that such a charge must be laid against an offender within 10 days of the alleged commission.
